SEO and GEO on DealerOn

DealerOn is an independent, OEM-certified dealer website provider used by franchised stores and dealer groups across most major manufacturer programs. Its page builder gives dealers more room to create pages than many competing platforms, and its SRP filters and VDP settings are configurable within the template. We work the builder, the feed, and the vendor ticket queue to turn that room into rankings and AI citations.

What you control

What DealerOn lets you change, and what it does not

The page builder is the dealer's main lever. Inventory pages and global templates stay with the vendor.

Page builder is the lever

You can create and edit content pages with your own headings, copy, images, FAQs, and internal links. Location pages, model pages, service specials, and buyer guides all live here.

SRP and VDP are templated

Search results and vehicle detail pages come from DealerOn templates. You control filters, sort defaults, visible fields, and which modules appear. Structural changes require a vendor request.

Feed drives inventory content

Vehicle titles, descriptions, comments, and photos on the VDP are populated from your DMS or inventory tool. Fixing thin VDPs starts with the feed, not the site.

Structured data is platform-emitted

Vehicle and dealership schema ship with the template. Custom JSON-LD on content pages is possible in most setups but depends on what the builder allows in your configuration.

Speed depends on your scripts

The template loads reasonably on its own. Chat, digital retailing, trade-in tools, and ad pixels added by the dealer are what usually push Core Web Vitals into the red.

Redirects and URL control

Content page slugs are yours. Inventory URL structure is platform-defined. Bulk 301 redirects after a site change are typically loaded by DealerOn support from a list we supply.

Filter combinations for color, price, and mileage generate thousands of near-duplicate SRP URLs that Google crawls instead of the VDPs.

How we work inside the platform

Two paths for every DealerOn fix

Each audit item is sorted into what we ship ourselves and what goes to the vendor with evidence attached.

Vendor requests move faster with a clear before-and-after, the affected URLs, and the expected outcome. We write them that way.

Playbook

How a DealerOn engagement runs

Audit, then a roadmap sorted by owner, then steady building and vendor follow-up.

1Weeks 1 to 2

Audit every dealership location

Full crawl per store, Search Console per property, SRP crawl-trap check, feed field audit, script inventory, and an AI citation baseline for your metro across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews.

2Weeks 2 to 4

Sort by owner

Page builder tasks we can ship now, feed changes for your inventory manager, and vendor tickets for DealerOn support. Each ticket gets URLs, evidence, and the requested change written plainly.

3Month 2 onward

Build and follow up

City and model pages, metadata patterns, service content, internal links, and redirects go live. We track vendor tickets to closure and verify each change in a recrawl.

4Ongoing

Report per dealership location

Rankings by market, inventory and service sessions, leads, and AI mentions reported monthly. New pages each month based on what the data says is moving.

FAQ

DealerOn questions, answered

More than most dealers use. The page builder handles content pages, metadata, and internal linking. Inventory pages are templated, but their inputs (feed fields, title patterns, filter settings) are adjustable. The vendor handles structural template changes.
Not necessarily. Some dealers keep the vendor package for OEM-approved model content and use us for dealer-specific pages, service content, feed quality, and GEO. We coordinate so the two do not overwrite each other.
Admin or editor access to the DealerOn site, Search Console and GA4 for each dealership location, and read access to your inventory tool. For vendor tickets, we either file through your account or draft them for your rep to submit.
Usually, yes. The canonical and indexing behavior of filtered SRPs is a vendor setting. We document the affected URLs and the desired rules, and DealerOn support applies them. We verify with a recrawl and Search Console.
Yes. Each store gets its own audit, Search Console property, and page set. Shared content across dealership locations is one of the most common findings we fix, since duplicate service and about pages across a group rarely rank.
Technical fixes show within weeks. Competitive local inventory rankings and consistent AI citations typically take six to nine months of steady publishing. We report progress monthly and do not guarantee positions or lead counts.
